The New Maple Wine: L’Avrillon
We recently had opportunity to taste a new product from Érablière du Cap. L’Avrillon (referring to the sugaring season in April) is a fine golden wine made with organic maple syrup. Served quite cold, it’s smooth with notes of mocha and pastry, making it just right to sip or serve with appetizers or desserts. Many of us decided on the spot to find a place for this Québec product on our holiday table. It’s a festive wine, in more ways than one…
Érablière du Cap (Acton Vale, QC) produced L’Avrillon to mark its 20th anniversary in 2018. With a 14% alcohol content, it strikes a fine balance between sweetness and acidity. To the palate, it offers a lovely roundness and a subtle, sustained finish. A delightful aperitif with foie gras, oysters, or smoked salmon. For dessert, pair it with berries or crème brûlée.
It’s priced at $20 on the Domaine du Cap website. While you’re there, check out their many other products. Enjoy the taste of April in December with L’Avrillon!
