New Year’s Day Maple Mocktail

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup frozen cranberries
- 1/2 oz maple syrup, preferably dark syrup for its robust flavour
- 1 oz alcohol-free gin
- 1 oz pink grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 oz alcohol-free sparkling beverage
- 1 frozen cranberry, coated in maple sugar, to garnish
Method
- In a shaker, crush the frozen cranberries in the maple syrup.
- Add the alcohol-free gin and grapefruit juice, fill with ice cubes, and shake.
- Strain through a fine sieve into a champagne flute.
- Add the (well-chilled) alcohol-free sparkling beverage.
- Put a frozen cranberry onto a cocktail pick, dip it into maple syrup, and sprinkle with fine maple sugar.
- Balance the cocktail pick on the flute.
– Can’t drink grapefruit juice? Substitute with the same amount of freshly squeezed orange juice.
– You can replace the alcohol-free gin and sparkling beverage with 90 ml (3 oz) of maple kombucha.
